UAE announces amendments to foreign citizenship laws
In a statement released on the social networking site Twitter, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “We have amended the law to allow investors and professionals and their families to travel to the UAE.” Citizenship will be granted.
We adopted law amendments that allow granting the UAE citizenship to investors, specialized talents & professionals including scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, authors and their families. The new directives aim to attract talents that contribute to our development journey.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum added that the amendment would grant citizenship to scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, writers and their families.
He said that the new guidelines are aimed at attracting various skilled talents to help us in our development journey.
The UAE cabinet, local Emiri courts & executive councils will nominate those eligible for the citizenship under clear criteria set for each category. The law allows receivers of the UAE passport to keep their existing citizenship.
