UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has offered his services for the resolution of the Kashmir issue, urging India and Pakistan to work together for a serious solution to the Kashmir issue.

According to details, he was responding to a question from a representative of Pakistan’s state-run news agency APP at the first press conference of the year yesterday, warning that there was no military solution to the long-term Kashmir issue.

In this regard, the UN Secretary General said that his services as the head of the UN are always available to mediate on the issue of the LOC.

He said that it was clear that any military confrontation between Pakistan and India would be a catastrophe not only for the two countries but for the whole world, so I believe that the end of tension in the Line of Control and Occupied Kashmir is very important. Yes, and I think the two countries should seriously discuss the Kashmir issue together.

Replying to a question on human rights violations in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he said, “I think it is very important to respect human rights in all areas.”

He said that he was abiding by his statement issued on August 8, 2019 on the Kashmir issue regarding the demand for resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Charter and UN resolutions.

“Even though things are not going in the right direction, our services as the head of the United Nations are always available and we will insist on finding a peaceful solution to this problem for which there is no military solution,” he said.
